ABOUT KONYA
Football has carried Konya Plummer around the world, but it has never been the whole of who she is.
She is a daughter of St. Mary, Jamaica. A mother. A woman grounded in faith. A competitor who has learned from every country, culture and community the game has introduced her to—and a woman increasingly focused on what she can give back.
For Konya, success is not simply about what she accomplishes. It is about creating opportunities for others to discover what may be possible for them.
Rooted In St. Mary
Home, for Konya, is the valley of St. Mary—the river, lush green trees and bushes, the calm wind, the scent of the ocean and farming land. It is a place she associates with peace, love and togetherness.
Those roots have remained with her wherever football has taken her. Living and playing in different countries expanded the way she sees the world, but it also made her more aware of the opportunities that young people in Jamaica often do not have. That awareness has become part of what drives her to create change at home.
Grounded By Faith, Love, & Purpose
Football is part of Konya’s life, but her sense of identity is grounded elsewhere—in her relationship with God, in motherhood, and in the kind of person she chooses to be.
Becoming a mother deepened her capacity to care for others and revealed a strength she says was already within her. She wants the example of her life to demonstrate something simple: treat people equally, don’t give up, know when it is time to walk away, and recognize every day as another opportunity to become better.
Creating Opportunity
Konya’s experiences have shaped a growing sense of responsibility to the community that shaped her. She has seen what access can make possible—and what the lack of opportunity can prevent.
Her vision reaches beyond any single initiative. She wants to help create environments where young people can discover their potential, where mothers have greater support, and where communities like her own have more of the resources they need to thrive.
This is where her definition of legacy begins: not simply with what she achieves, but with the opportunities she helps create for others.
For Konya, a meaningful life is larger than success. She hopes her journey encourages others toward faith, purpose and the belief that who they become is ultimately more important than what they accomplish.
